Prayer Shawl Ministry

A quiet but powerful group has been operating at St. Theresa Church for over a decade. Called the Prayer Shawl Ministry, they provide knit or crocheted shawls and lap robes to those afflicted with a physical ailment, health crisis, or others in need of God’s loving embrace. Since inception, over one thousand shawls, afghans, chemo hats, and lap robes have been donated. All shawls have been blessed and gifted with a beautiful prayer which is suitable for framing.

Many have been taken to people in hospitals and nursing homes by members from St. Theresa Church Healthcare Ministry. Some recipients include St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Sandy Hook Children, First Responders of Boston Marathon, Save the Children, Merton House, Caroline House, Yale New Haven Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital and local Cancer Care Centers.

Our “needlers” also warmly welcome the newest members of our Parish by creating gorgeous Baptismal garments.
We accept new needlers of every level of expertise.
