The Mother Church of Trumbull

Religious Education

Our Mission at Saint Theresa Religious Education is to assist parents, as primary educators, in fulfilling the promises you made at your child’s Baptism. You accepted the obligation to nurture your child in the Catholic Faith and help prepare and participate in the Sacramental life of the Church. As partners in this mission our goal is to help draw families into a deeper relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Adults seeking to receive Baptism, Confirmation, or Holy Communion are encouraged to enroll in our RCIA program.

Led by our Director of Religious Education, Joanne Durkin, our Catechists are volunteers who teach our Catholic faith to the children of the parish. Those who volunteer in the CCD / Religious Education Program for an entire year will receive full credit for tuition. Adults who assist on a weekly basis as a hall monitor, classroom assistant or religious education “principal” will also have tuition waived. Please contact the religious education office if you are interested in volunteering. If at any time the volunteer leaves during the school year, the pro-rated balance of a year’s tuition will be billed.

Virtus Training

The class is approximately 3 hours and may be taken at various locations in the diocese including the Catholic Center in Bridgeport. Upon completion of the class, a copy of the certificate must be submitted to the office prior to beginning duties as a volunteer. For more information contact our Virtus Coordinator.

CATECHIST CERTIFICATION:  ALL Catechists must be working toward completion of Religious Education courses, as required by the diocese Office of Faith Formation.
